Name: Angus MacCallum
Age: 34
Birthday: August 7th
Bloodline: Halfblood
Why are they important to this plot line?: Brother of Hamish, influential DJ for wizarding radio. He was part of Potterwatch during the war.
Physical Description:
Angus is quite lean, with enough muscle to be an average sized man. He stands at five feet ten inches, again fairly average. His hair is a mix between brown, red, and blond depending on the light and time of year. It likes to darken during the long winter months and has nothing to do with magic, only nature. His eyes are a grey blue from his Scottish background. Occasionally he wears black rimed glasses. He doesn't like to wear them as they become annoying, and his eye sight isn't too bad (it's mostly for reading- old age and all that).
He dresses fairly casually under his robes, or when out on the street. He finds it easy to blend from one society to the other without drawing much attention. However, when the occasion calls, he does love a good dressing up in suit and tie- or robe. His shoes, however, have seen better days as they are worn runners that look to almost be bursting at the seams.
Personality:
As being the second oldest brother in a family with four boys, Angus is the protector, but at the same time the extrovert. He's not afraid to push the boundaries of social behavior. He isn't rude, he just likes to play with people. For example, he finds it funny to stand a bit too close to people in lifts, or when there is only one person in there he stands facing the person with the back to the door. It's a cheap thrill that he finds zen in a strange way much like roller coasters.
Among his brothers, he's the laid back, confident one. Some may say cool, as he knows what he's doing and doesn't care for what people say. Singing to himself badly while walking down the street? Not a problem. Talking to women? As if he was born to do it. He knows where his alliance is held, and during the war was known to speak out against Voldemort. He wasn't stupid. He knew when to stop and this was key when he helped produce Potterwatch in secret.
Likes: Global oddities, comfortable shoes, and spending time with all his brothers.
Dislikes: Coffee, lack of sleep, cats in general.
History:
Angus grew up in a small wizarding town in Scotland with his muggle father and magical mother. He learned to straddle both worlds with cousins on both sides and was always interested in the dynamics between the two. He learned how to handle people with his three brothers, one older and two younger, each two years apart. He looked after the younger and knew how to push the eldest' buttons.
He was thrilled when he was sorted to Gryfindor, just like his mother and brother. School seemed normal enough, and he soon became involved with the normal clubs and such. One year he tried out for Quidditch, but never made the team and gave up the dream thinking if he couldn't do it the first time, the next he would make it only just and that's not what the team needed- a half good player.
When he had finally graduated and left school with decent OWLs and NEWTs, he was stumped on what he wanted to do. He wasn't particularly skilled in any subject, nor did he have a favorite. In fact, looking back, Angus isn't a hundred percent sure how he got into the game of communications. Radio to be more precise. He had met a man who ran a small station and for whatever reason took young Angus on to learn the ropes.
But times got darker, and the Ministry had their ways of getting what they wanted the world to hear. When the year 1997 rolled around, Angus had had enough. Even with his high status in production and his own afternoon chat show called 'Angus in the Afto', he couldn't take how everyone was listening to the garbage that was flowing though the media. One night he decided to set up something new. Something secret. With the help of Lee Jordon, a few Weasleys, and his brother Hamish who let their scent stray from the knowledge of the Ministry, Potterwatch was launched. It was a success and even a bit disappointing when it came to an end (a happy one with the defeat of Voldemort).
Currently he has taken back his original position in full flight, with a few changes and it looks like his boss is close to retirement....
Family and Pets: Father Wallace (muggle), Mother Gillian (witch), older brother Finlay (36), younger brothers Hamish (pronounced haim-ish) (32) and Loughlin (30). An owl who is loosing it's feathers and can no longer fly called Mig.
Other information (optional): I think that's about it for now.
Roleplaying Sample:
(From a site where he is a professor rather than a radio producer/DJ)
It had been quite a few years since he had stepped foot into the trophy room. It looked as good and full of awards as ever. Someone had been taking care of it. Every plaque shined with names blazing across the front. Pictures of teams milling around in their endless time of showing off for the few who came to gaze.
Angus had come. Professor now. It was still something to get used to. He told his students not to call him by his title in class, but it was looked down upon out in the halls so that rule didn't apply everywhere.
One glass case was of most interest to him. It was a very old one, even if the trophy inside looked just like it did the day it had been presented on. A name scrawled across the bottom among a few others. It was the very last one in the sequence, and the sight of it gave Angus chills.
Duff MacCallum
Angus stared hard into his great great grandfathers name. It had been a Quidditch cup from the late 1800's. It was hard to believe that people lived back then at times, even if he did call himself a historian. Then again, how much was really different in the wizarding world? Muggles seem to progress in leaps and bounds inventing new things and making do without magic, but wizards seemed to be frozen in time. Possible reason for the decline? It was another question to ask another day.
