Scar Face
"Lily, take Harry and go! It’s him! Go! Run! I’ll hold him off ------"
The scar on Harry's forehead is no ordinary scar. It was given to him when Voldemort's killing curse backfired on him when he was only fifteen months old. In cursing Harry, Voldemort gave the boy some of his own powers, including making Harry a Parselmouth. The scar is the shape of a lightning bolt and Harry is connected to Voldemort through it, hurting when the Dark Lord is near him, or feeling a strong surge of hatred. This link strengthens as Harry gets older and as Voldemort gets stronger -- at least until Voldemort begins to block the connection after the Battle of the Department of Mysteries.
A Mother's Love
"Not Harry, please no, take me, kill me instead ----- "
Lily was killed, but 1-year-old Harry survived, marked with a large jagged wound by the curse meant to take his life. Voldemort lost almost all of his powers as well as his body, and fled horribly weakened. Lily’s love and sacrifice ("ancient magic") created invincible protection for Harry, and the curse then rebounded on Voldemort.
Since Harry's fifth year, he has also had a self-inflicted scar: "I must not tell lies" is now permanently etched on the back of his right hand.
Birthday: 31 July 1980
Wand: Holly and phoenix feather, eleven inches, nice and supple, brother to Voldemorts wand.
Patronus: Silver Stag
Boggart: Dementor
Worst Fear/ Memory: His parent's death.
Skills:
A "natural" Quidditch player; a Parselmouth (speaks Parseltongue); can cast spells without a wand; senses the presence of others; prescient dreams; particularly skilled in Defence against the Dark Arts; appears to be resistant to the Imperius Curse and Veelas. Had difficulty learning Occlumency.
Possessions always on hand: Wand, Invisibility Cloak, and Marauders Map.
Appearance:
Eye color: Brilliant green, the same as his mother’s.
Hair color: Black; perpetually messy, sticks up in the back, same as his father's.
Lightning-bolt scar on forehead.
From the books: "Harry had always been small and skinny for his age. … Harry had a thin face, knobbly knees, black hair, and bright green eyes. He wore round glasses held together with a lot of Scotch tape .... The only thing Harry liked about his own appearance was a very thin scar on his forehead that was shaped like a bolt of lightning."
Tattoo? Nah. During Harry's sixth year it was rumored that he had a Hippogriff tattooed on his chest. Ginny had a laugh on them by telling them it wasn't a Hippogriff, it was a Hungarian Horntail.
Personaility:
His heart is true, even if his intentions aren't always, and he'd give mostly anyone the shirt off his back if asked to do so. Fiercely loyal, Harry would do just about anything for anyone he cares for without thinking twice. A gentleman (usually...) His good features outweigh his flaws, which, at times, can be overwhelming, especially when's he's trying to impress. His main flaws, you ask? Playing the hero, giving cheek, and a penchant for not knowing when to shut up.
Background:
The Boy Who Lived.
Harry Potter was the only son of Lily and James Potter, who were both Gryffindor Alumni. In 1981, his parents were killed by the dark Wizard Voldemort. The Dark Lord was attempting to destroy him to prevent a prophecy being fulfilled and actually set it into action when the death curse failed and the baby boy was left with a lightning scar. What few realized is the scar the boy carried after the incident was much more than and legendary mark, in later years it would become a warning when there was a danger related to the Dark Lord. Also, his parent's killer had unintentionally passed on some of his powers to Harry including the rare gift of parseltongue (speaking to snakes).
The one year old orphaned Harry Potter was left in the care of his mother's sister, Petunia, who had married Vernon Dursley and had a son named Dudley (who was about a month older than Harry). They did their best to hide his Wizard roots from him. His spoiled cousin bullied him as a boy as did his uncle Vernon's sister. But there was someone who knew of the Wizard world that kept a close eye on him, a squib named Mrs. Figg. Though Mrs. Figg was a neighbor of the Dursleys and was always close by, she didn't reveal any knowledge of the wizard world in her contact with Harry. Harry finally discovered his true past when a rather large man named Hagrid showed up on his eleventh birthday with his Hogwarts letter and he learned not only about the wizard school, but the fate of his parents. He had a lot of first in his eleventh year.
Harry Potter Has Returned
First year at Hogwarts, first time having friends of his own, first time having money, etc etc. And on top of that after spending many years shunned for being odd by the Dursleys, he was now a well known name and hero in the wizard world. Most were PROUD to know him. Fame also won him an enemy in fellow Hogwarts classmate Draco Malfoy, but that couldn't change the many happy things that happened that year.
Among his necessary school things he's acquired some prized possessions. Harry owns a Snowy Owl named Hedwig. Hagrid bought in for him just before he started his first year at Hogwarts. He got a Nimbus 2000 broomstick in his first year when he made the team, but it was broken by the Whomping Willow in his third year and his godfather, Sirius Black, bought him a Firebolt as a replacement. Each year at Hogwarts, Harry seems to face more severe attempts on his life, but he keeps returning each year because it feels like his true home. He also feels quite at home in the Weasley home. He's spent the first happy summer break of his life there (after Ron, Fred, and George stole him from his room). He attended school with four of the Weasley boys (Percy, Fred, George, and Ron) and later Ginny (the only daughter of the couple). Since they are an old wizarding family his association with them has helped ease his transition to the wizarding world. Ron (the Weasley child in his year) became his best friend and has been helpful when he's introduced to new parts of wizard life he doesn't understand. Harry became the youngest house player in a century when he made the team in his first year. The Weasley twins were his first Weasley teammates and out there on the Quidditich field with him. They looked out for him when his broom was bewitched and he was attacked by a rogue Bludger.
Hero of the Wizarding World
In his second year, his rescue of Ginny Weasley won him a special award for services to the school. Just before his third year, he got an especially warm treat when his friends sent him his first birthday gifts and cards ever via Owl Post.
Snuffles
In his third year, the Weasley twins passed on the Marauders map to him which he later discovered was created (at least partially) by his father. He also found his Godfather and rescued him from the Dementor's kiss (a fate worse than death). Even though he was disappointed he wouldn't be going to live with his god-father, since Sirius was forced into hiding, he was happy to have someone like a parent to write too. Before starting his fourth year, the Weasley's picked him up from the Dursley's house and they kept him until the start of the school year plus he went to see the first pro Quidditch game of his life, the Quidditich World Cup.
Voldemort Has Returned
The fourth year should have been exciting. He found out the school would be home to the TriWizard Tournament, which hadn't been held in a century. The contest was closed to any student under 17, but Harry was looking forward to watching it with his friends. However, someone got Harry's name in and after he was chosen there was no way out. His best friend Ron was upset with him, thinking he was keeping secrets and stealing the spot light again. And much of the school felt he had stolen the light from rightful champion Cedric Diggory. But he made up with Ron after the first task only to find himself in another troubling situation, asking a girl to the ball. After working up the courage, he asked out his crush Cho Chang only to discover she already had a date. But he and Ron managed to get a last minute date with the Patil twins.
The final task of the Tournament revealed why he had been entered in the first place. Voldemort abducted him through the use of a portkey and used his blood to be returned to a proper body. Harry barely escaped death at the hands of the resurrected Lord Voldemort and went back home dreading what might come next.
He's Dead, Harry
Being out of the loop of the Wizard world after nearly dying at the hands of the returned Dark Lord didn't help him keep calm during the summer and cryptic letters from Ron and Hermione (who were obviously together and informed) left him further frustrated. But the walls of his worlds (wizard and Muggle) began to melt away when Dementors attacked him and his cousin Dudley. He was forced to conjure a Patronus to save them. This sent the newly reinstated Order of the Phoenix running to his aid and taking him back into the care of the Weasleys, but not at the Burrow.
At Number 12 Grimmauld Place (his godfather's house) he found out what his friends had been up to and about the reinstated Order that was established to fight the Dark Lord. He also discovered it had been acting in secret because the Wizard world was back to thinking the return of Lord Voldemort was a lie. At school he even found out they even sent their own official, Umbridge, to the school to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts and insure the 'lie' wasn't spread. Hermione decided to act and convinced Harry (with Ron supporting her) that he could teach them the subject. He wasn't sure at first, but soon found himself leading a secret Defense Against the Dark Arts group, (the D.A. or Dumbledore's Army - named as such by Ginny Weasley). Even though he was only in his fifth year, he found himself quite good at teaching even the older students. Teaching was his only consolation when Umbridge took Quidditch away from him. He'd lost his spot (along with the Weasley Twins) because of a fight with Draco Malfoy (who insulted his mother). In his fifth year he also finally gained the return affections of his crush Cho Chang, experiencing his first kiss and a sort of date (that went all wrong). The romance ended quicker than it had begun and by the end of the year Cho was seeing Ginny Weasley's ex-boyfriend.
Along with the D.A. and his up and down relationship with Cho Chang, Harry began to experience vivid dreams about Lord Voldemort. He soon discovered he was not only taping into his emotions, but seeing through his eyes. Dumbledore tried to get Snape to train him in Occumency which would help him turn off the connection, but the boy and the teacher had too much distain for each other and the lessons never worked out. This allowed Voldemort to manipulate the power to his advantage and he tricked Harry into coming down to the Ministry to save his god-father. When he arrived (with Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Luna, and Neville), he was ambushed by Death Eaters. Luckily certain member of the Order of the Phoenix came to his rescue. Unfortunately, his godfather didn't survive the battle. Harry was deeply depressed after and certainly not looking forward to a return to Privet Drive. Some members of the Order of the Phoenix (including the Weasleys) decided to speak to the Dursleys upon Harry's return from school. And they let them know they would be looking in on Harry and expected to find that he had been fairly treated during the summer holiday.
But his stay at the Dursleys was shorter lived than it had ever been. After a mere two weeks, Dumbledore (for the first time ever) came to pick him up. He informed him that he had inherited Sirius' home and all his possessions (including the horrible house-elf). After this matter was taken care of and a short diversion to recruit a new Potions Professor, Harry was taken into the custody of the Weasleys again. In fact, for the first time he spent a birthday with them. He spent the majority of his summer hanging out with Ron, Hermione, and Ginny. So much so that by the time he started school he FORGOT Ginny Weasley didn't hang out with them normally. He was quite upset when she abandoned him on the train to be with her boyfriend (one of his friends) Dean Thomas. Hermione and Ron had prefect responsibilities to attend to, so he rode up with Luna and Neville. He found himself the center of quite an increase of attention as now, instead of the Boy Who Lived (or the boy who lies) the magical world had declared him the 'Choosen One'.
Horcruxes
His sixth year was filled with Quidditch Captain duties (as he'd earned a captain position), suspicions about Draco Malfoy being a Death Eater (which his friends didn't believe, but they turned out to be true) and private lessons with Dumbledore where he unlocked the mystery of Voldemort's past. He also learned to apparate, though he's still waiting for his seventeenth birthday to be able to do it legally. He also found a friend in the mysterious Half-Blood Prince. The Prince was the former owner of his old potions book and left a lot of useful notes that made Harry's potion grade soar, but he later regretted ever owning the book. And one more thing found him in his 16th year of life, LOVE. A truly happy boyfriend/girlfriend love that took him completely by surprise. In the midst of Dumbledore lessons and worries about Draco, he still found love pushing it's way into his heart and (no surprise) that love was for a Weasley, Ginny Weasley. At first he was afraid it was a forbidden love (as her brother was his best mate) but after a very public kiss he found out that Ron preferred Ginny with Harry to anyone else.
As happy as Harry was with Ginny, tragedy and his larger destiny soon propelled him in a different direction. His headmaster finally made his mission against the Dark Lord clear before death unexpectedly took him (thanks to the Half-Blood Prince a.k.a. Severus Snape). And now realizing there was no one to depend on but himself, Harry made a choice to face the enemy he had been destined to face since the day he got his scar. He gave up his girlfriend for this noble cause, but his friends would not be shaken off. Ron and Hermione decided to join him on his mission to destroy Voldemort and he accepted their company for the journey.
But after much discussion during the holidays, Harry, Ron and Hermione decide it is better to continue their year at Hogwarts, and used the library, plus any other information they can get from Hogwarts and those there, that would be useful in finding and destroying the remaining horcruxes. Then, with all the horcruxes destroyed, Harry would face Voldemort and fulfil the prophecy.

"Severus ... please ..."
Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at Dumbledore. "Avada Kedavra!"
A jet of green light shot from the end of Snape's wand and hit Dumbledore squarely in the chest. For a split second he seemed to hang suspended beneath the shining skull, and then he fell slowly backwards, like a rag doll, over the battlements and out of sight.
Harry suddenly jolted to attention as he snapped out of the memory, realising he was holding Ron's wrist, his nails digging into his best friend's flesh. "Sorry, Ron." He muttered with a look of guilt, letting go of Ron's wrist and frowning at the red welts he had left behind on Ron's arm.
"Snape is involved in this." He growled, continuing down the dirt path as they headed passed the boudaries of Hogsmeade. They had been walking for over an hour, searching for Hermione in every conceivable place they could think of. The run down form of the Shrieking Shack started to come into view and he shook his head.
"I mean, with Malfoy missing as well..." He shuddered slightly. "Who knows where he's taken her." Draco had to have taken her. It only made perfect sense. Why couldn't anyone see this? Why wouldn't they listen? Dumbledore would have listened.
Harry missed him. There was no doubt about it. Dumbledore had been like a grandfather, a mentor, and a friend.
He would do anything to find Hermione. He couldn't stop searching. He couldn't. Not when Hermione was in trouble. He looked back at the Shrieking Shack and let out a small sigh.
